As soon as I find ways to add more photos then I will. I
have lots to share.
Walk down Beale Street in Memphis in
my slide show. Though Beale is more
famous for the blues, I wrote this from
an Elvis fans' perspective. Come to
Memphis and find these places!
To the right is the second Elvis Statue to be
placed on Beale Street in Memphis. To see
photos of both Elvis statues, and more;

Crown Electric doesn't exist
anymore. To the left, we can step
back in time, to 1956 courtesy of
one of first Elvis Presley fan
magazines. Here co-owner
Gladys Tipler proudly shows
where one former employee, Elvis
Presley carved his name onto a
wall inside the building. Wonder if
she was thrilled about his act of
graffiti before 1956. Below her is
a photo of some of the
employees and one of the
delivery trucks, like the one he
used to drive. Look closely for the
company sign and street
address.
Another building that doesn't exist
now is the old Ellis Auditorium pictured
above in this vintage postcard. Elvis
was a frequent visitor to the Saturday
night gospel shows. He performed
there in 1955, 1956 and 1961. In 1971
he received the Ten Most Outstanding
Young Men of America award inside
the building.
One place you can visit is Poplar
Tunes. Elvis shopped in this very store
at 308 Poplar Avenue.
